Title: Harnessing the CytoFLEX nano for Extracellular Vesicle and Nanoparticle Analysis
Speaker: Dr. Joshua Price, PhD, University of Birmingham, Department of Inflammation and Ageing
The CytoFLEX nano is a powerful tool for high-resolution nanoparticle and extracellular vesicle (EV) analysis. This talk will showcase its application across several projects, highlighting its utility in quantifying particles and addressing challenges in detection.
Project 1: Silica Beads
A serial dilution study of four-size silica beads was used to assess linearity, swarming effects, and detection limits. This work provides insights into optimizing dilution strategies for accurate nanoparticle measurement.
Project 2: Fluorescent EV Standards
Fluorescent EV standards were analyzed to assess mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) stability, signal consistency, and coefficient of variation (CV) in commercially available standards.
Project 3: Clinical Research Applications
Ongoing research into rare antigen markers and fragmented red cells (FRCs) in plasma, alongside a project investigating adipose derived-EV, highlights the CytoFLEX nano’s potential for biomarker discovery, translational applications, and student-led research initiatives.
Conclusion
This presentation will provide an overview of key findings from these projects, offering insights into EV characterization, nanoparticle detection, and biomarker research using nano flow cytometry.
