Satellite Meeting: ISEV/ISCT Joint Session: Impact of donor, tissue and cell heterogeniety on the functionality of MSC-sEVs
Saturday, April 26, 2025
17:45 – 19:15 CET
Location: Lehar 1-2
This session moderated by Bernd Giebel (University Hospital Essen, Germany) will explore how donor characteristics and tissue sources influence the functionality of mesenchymal stromal cell-derived small extracellular vesicles (MSC-sEVs) and how different administration routes affect their biodistribution and therapeutic efficacy. The session will begin with a short presentation by Ryang-Hwa Lee (Texas A&M University College of Medicine, USA), addressing batch-to-batch variations in MSC-EV products. This will be followed by Oscar Wiklander (Karolinska Institute, Sweden) , who will provide a brief report on the impact of administration routes on the biodistribution of therapeutic EV products. A roundtable discussion will then bring all participants together to explore potential strategies for minimizing batch-to-batch variations and identifying the most effective routes of administration to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
