Dr. Berglind E. Benediktsdottir is an Associate professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Iceland. She is also vice-dean of that Faculty. Current research interest is to optimize isolation strategies of extracellular vesicles (EVs) for future use as drug delivery vesicles for cancer therapeutics.
Berglind is a pharmacist with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and defended her thesis in 2012, gaining expertise in polymer synthesis as well as epithelial cell cultures resulting in peer-review papers and book chapters. After finishing her PhD, she worked for Actavis (now a part of Teva), a pharmaceutical company, as a quality affairs specialist for outsourced pharmaceutical manufacturing
Berglind started to focus on EVs when receiving an Assistant professorship in 2015 and has since then been setting up a lab for EV research.
