Research interests: My research primarily focuses on developing new platforms for early stage disease diagnostics using circulating exosomes and related extracellular vesicles (EVs). My lab maintains a balance of directed and exploratory research projects at the interface of nanomaterials chemistry, vibrational spectroscopy, and EV biology, including the development of engineered EVs for therapeutics. A central point of emphasis in the lab is the construction and application of cutting-edge Raman spectroscopy and SERS tools to investigate the broad chemical heterogeneity of EVs, with the goal of more sensitively and specifically identifying disease-associated subpopulations.
