Nicole Noren Hooten, Ph.D. is a Staff Scientist in the Intramural Research Program at the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health. Nicole uses an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to examine the biological basis of health disparities, aging and age-related diseases. Specifically, she studies extracellular vesicles, extracellular RNA, non-coding RNAs and pathways related to oxidative stress and how these mechanisms contribute to aging and age-related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus.
